Trowal - pressure and wind on the 300 K surface

Notes:

The trowal (trough of warm air aloft) air stream is easily identifiable on the 300 K isentropic surface. Trowals are known to be associated with heavy snow. The data on these slides show the trowal developing off the mid-Atlantic coast during the afternoon on the 25th, then extending westward, across New England, New York and Pennsylvania, during the early morning on the 26th.
