The data on this slide shows 12 hour NAM forecast east-west cross section of equivalent potential temperature, lapse rate, and wind speed at 00z on October 30th. A pronounced stable layer can be seen between 900 and 800 mb. Strongest winds, greater than 60 kts are located within and above the stable layer.
