VAD wind profile at BGM

Notes:

The BGM VAD wind profile indicated only 40 kt winds at 2000 feet at 00z on the 30th, (compared to a forecast of around 60 kts from the 6 hour RAP forecast). The 2000 foot wind speed decreased to around 30 kts at 03z and 06z. Therefore, one could conclude (based on the damage at higher elevations in the Poconos) that the RAP forecast was pretty good in northeast Pa, but 1000 to 3000 foot winds were over-forecast in central New York.
