Surface wind, low-level wind and terrainNotes:Model forecast surface winds were moderately strong around 00z on the 30th, indicating that some mixing may have been occurring in the lowest 1000 to 2000 feet, but the really strong winds above 850 mb were not forecast to reach the surface. The lightest winds at 00z were generally located in lower terrain between the Catskills and Allegheny’s, and also in the valleys of northeast Pennsylvania.
