RAP forecasts at MSV

Notes:

Examination of RAP forecast soundings and BUFKIT momentum transfer at Monticello (MSV) is shown on this slide. The MSV area in Sullivan county New York experienced significant wind damage, in the form of power outages, during the event. At 22z, the mean wind in the mixed layer was 54 kts, or around 60 mph. The mean wind decreased significantly by 01z as the mixed layer decreased to less than 1000 feet, then increased again to 57 kts, or around 65 mph, by 05z on the 30th, as the mixed layer deepened to over 4000 feet. .
